Notre Dame’s offense faces a critical crossroads at midseason, earning a B- as questions linger about explosive playmaking. Quarterback CJ Carr, once touted as a Heisman candidate, shows efficiency and composure but lacks the big-play impact seen from rivals like Darian Mensah or Bear Bachmeier. With the passing game favoring safe routes over aggressive shots downfield, talented receivers such as Faison, Greathouse, and Gilbert aren’t maximizing yards after catch. Is conservative play-calling holding this unit back?
The ground attack brings flashes of excitement but frustration over usage lingers. Nolan James delivers consistent production, averaging five yards per carry, while Aeneas Williams remains solid but unspectacular. Despite Jonas Walton’s recent dynamic performances, he’s given limited opportunities in ranked matchups. Offensive line reliability provides a strong foundation, but tightening up red zone efficiency will be crucial. Can Notre Dame’s offense find the explosive spark needed to contend with top-tier defenses?
